Banana Bread Revisited

Bananas are one of those fruits that are a little bit of everything: a perfect snack on their own, they enhance any smoothie, and are delicious with a swipe of nut butter. However, the dilemma arises if you forget about your once green-tinted Chiquitas and they slowly become a a dark-spotted bunch you thought you just got yesterday. This was my position this sunday evening. Luckily, bananas are not only great in your favorite protein smoothie but also amazing when ripened past their prime in a bread.

I like this recipe because of the unexpected mixture of spices that give the bread a more complex flavor: cinnamon, nutmeg and just a pinch of cloves. I generally associate this spice blend with pumpkin or gingerbread but it surprisingly mixes perfectly with the bananas.

Enjoy plain or with a layer of cream cheese, and a cup of tea!
