Seeing Spots

If you had asked me a few years ago if I would be wearing a leopard print blouse, I would have looked at you like you had leopard spots yourself. For some reason whenever I saw the infamous animal print, I would think Real Housewife of New Jersey and not girl on the go in Gotham. However, animal prints, particularly leopard, have been everywhere lately and impossible to avoid. So when I saw this blouse at Topshop I knew that I had to dip my toe into the leopard trend. I felt particularly smug when I then watched a Zoella vlog and she happened to be wearing the same one.

As we journey into the festive season and ultimately the new year, I have been reflecting on my year in outfits. I know I’m the first person to put myself into a box, making blanket statements like: “I’ll never wear animal prints” or even boxing myself in in life “I’m not qualified for that job.” However, I decided to try the blouse at the risk of ending up looking like Mowgli’s overzealous sidekick because there was always that off-chance that maybe I could rock it with a leather jacket and a combat-inspired boot. To that end, there’s even a possibility that I could get that call for the interview and the walls of my little box might just get knocked down, opening up a world of possibility.
