I feel like I blinked and all of a sudden it’s Summer 2021. The world (or at least NYC) has begun reopening, and I am more inspired to get dressed with fervor and passion, rather than throw on a sweat suit just to sit on my couch. As the famous philosopher of our time, Kourtney Kardashian said “my vibe right now is just living life.” This is what I intend to do this summer. What better to help me live my best life than exploring the newest styles and summer trends. While some of this season’s trends are a bit outside of my comfort zone or just not my cup of iced green tea, there are a few I am definitely excited to put into my sartorial rotation. Keep reading for my favorite styles that I’m excited to work with this summer.
Crop Tops:
Crop tops have always been a summer staple but I think that this season they have become more mainstream. As in, not only reserved for teens and the younger- set (you can’t monopolize this one, Gen Z!). These are a few of my faves:

Cut-Out Dresses:
This is the update for the early 2000’s bodycon dresses. The options range from fancy to doubling as a swim coverup and I like the easiness and flexibility of this trend for those hot summer days.
Longer Denim Shorts:
I know some of us are sick of the barely-there cutoff trend, so this one is definitely a welcome change. While I still haven’t found the perfect option for my shorter frame, I am optimistic that there’s a pair out there. Also, I like that this trend is a compromise between the Bermuda short (shudder) and the one-stride- away-from-showing-your-rear-end style.

Matching Sets:
I love seeing all of the whimsical options currently on the market. They come in all colors, patterns and styles as well as in long skirts and short shorts. This is one of the easiest trends to partake in, because you just throw on a top and bottom maybe with a mule, and grab your handbag and you have an outfit.
